Read this in Welsh …

Cantorion Rhos is a mixed choir of some 70 voices whose professional and occupational qualifications are numerous and varied.

Their wide repertoire includes 16th Century motets and madrigals, music from oratorios , European religious music, works by contemporary Welsh composers – including some specially commissioned works – and light music as the occasion demands.

In recent years the choir has enjoyed success in the National Eisteddfod of Wales(1st), the North Wales Choral Festival (1st and 2nd), the Chester Music Festival (1st and the Festival Rose Bowl) and the Northern Ireland International Music Festival (2 x 1st).

In 2007 Cantorion Rhos travelled to Poland , in 2010 to Northern Ireland and in 2012 to Portugal for concert performances and to compete.

Periodically the choir presents a special performance of a well-known work. Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Faure’s Requiem have been presented in recent years. They have performed alongside the world renowned pianist, Llyr Williams and other artistes many of whom have their roots in the local area.

It is the policy of the choir to encourage local youngsters who have musical talent and who may later become serious students of music at college or university. Some have gained experience by singing with the choir and others have been assistant accompanists.

Both Musical Director Robert Guy and Deputy Musical Director/ Accompanist Caroline Morris were brought up in the Wrexham area.
